Oral Hygiene

Bad breath, plaque buildup, inflamed and bleeding gums during brushing are signs of poor oral health.
The mouth is the gateway to the body and therefore a healthy mouth yields a healthy body. Bacteria that build up on teeth and in gums cause infection. The immune system moves in to attack the infection and the gums become inflamed.

Over time, inflammation and the chemicals it releases eat away at the gum and bone structure holding the teeth in place, this is a disease known as Periodontitis. This inflammation can then spread and cause other problems for the body such as diabetes and heart disease.

We encourage all our patients to have dental check-ups with us every 6 months where we will do a Scale and prophyjet Polish. This is done to remove plaque and bacteria from areas of the teeth and gums that brushing can’t do. A fluoride treatment as well as proper oral hygiene instructions will also be given.
